When it comes to whey protein there is huge variety of choice and types on the market today so whether you’re a regular buyer or not, the choice of which whey protein to spend your hard-earned cash on can sometimes be difficult with the myriad of supplements available.

In this article I’m going to review Bulk Powders Pure Whey Protein. It’s my personal whey protein of choice and I have been buying it for many years, and for good reason. Hopefully this review will prove helpful to you in some way.

Best Whey Protein 2018

Bulk Powders Pure Whey Protein won Best Whey Protein at Mens Fitness Magazines Sports Nutrition Awards 2018 and boasts 3100 5 star reviews out of a total of 3407 (at time of writing) with customers left feeling very positive, enthusiastic and happy with their purchase.

This is for a number of positive reasons such as its product quality and great tastes, of which there are currently 23! Ease of mixing and blending to a completely smooth texture with water or milk (which makes for a thicker, shake) and versatility, with it being easy and delicious to mix in to smoothies, yogurt and recipes.

The Best Value Whey Protein

Taking in to account the cost of whey proteins available today I do feel that prices have come down over the past 10 years or so. This I would say is down to the huge popularity of fitness in general which shows no sign of slowing down, big demand for supplements and in particular, whey protein and greatly increased competition within the supplement industry which is now huge business.

Gone are the days when you only had the choice to buy whatever might be available at your local health food shop which would usually be at an extortionate price. Now we can purchase our supplements and whey from a vast number of global online specialist retailers at extremely competitive prices.

BULK POWDERS UK for me personally has always offered the best value for money with its Pure Whey Protein and along with the quality that I can honestly say has been present with every purchase I have made. I have always felt I am getting the most value for my money.

Pure Whey Protein is currently available £7.19 for 500g, thats down from £11.99 making the cost per serving £0.48. I always buy a 2.5kg bag which is now available at a discount price of £31.49 from £44.99 at just £0.38 per serving, a true bargain compared to a £2-£3 protein shake from your gyms vending machine.

What’s in Pure Whey Protein?

Pure Whey Protein is sourced directly from a European dairy, and is made from grass-fed cow’s milk, and contains a massive 82% Whey Protein and 24g of protein per 30g serving with a possible 3-5% drop in protein depending on the flavour. Bulk Powders do guarantee the full 82% in their unflavoured Pure Whey Protein.

Pure Whey Protein is manufactured from sweet cheese whey using advanced cross-flow membrane filtration. It’s then agglomerated and instantised in to many different flavours (see list below!), using a small amount of soya lecithin to ensure superb mixability, and believe me it mixes very quickly to a smooth texture which is true for every flavour I’ve bought and is a must for a protein powder.

The above processes are carried out at low temperatures so that the resulting whey protein remains entirely undenatured. Undenatured whey protein preserves vital protein fractions, such as lactoferrin and immunoglobulins, resulting in a whey protein with the highest possible nutritional value.

The high protein, low fat, lactose and cholesterol content make it the perfect choice for anyone looking to supplement their existing healthy lifestyle and also increases the feeling of satiety, leaving you feeling fuller for longer.

With an excellent amino acid profile, including high levels of Branched Chain Amino Acids, Pure Whey Protein is an excellent choice for anyone looking to add extra protein to their diet, and can successfully be used to build muscle.

Pure Whey Protein Flavours

Bulk Powders Pure Whey Protein comes in no less than 23 different flavours ranging from standard vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and banana to more experimental tastes like apple crumble & custard, coconut & pineapple and one of 4 current limited editions; maple syrup & pancake.

I have tried a number of different flavours and have to say that each one I have tried hasn’t disappointed. My all-time favourite has to be rhubarb crumble & custard which is sadly no longer on the menu, however apple crumble & custard comes a close second.

These are both flavours I would never usually pick as a first choice either which is another testament to the quality. My current supply is banana which I’m enjoying.

Although the flavours may not be to everybody’s tastes, they’re not over sweet and are certainly not bland. After a workout at the gym and in need of a sweet taste I have to say I look forward to my shake which is something I didn’t always do with other more expensive brands in the past.

I also find that the degree of flavour can be adjusted well with the amount of water or milk you use to mix with which also doesn’t affect how Pure Whey Protein blends to a smooth finish every time.

If you’d rather not have flavoured Pure Whey Protein BULK POWDERS UK offer an unflavoured option that they say has a guaranteed 82% protein content and can be mixed with their LiquiFlav zero calorie liquid flavouring system, which is available in 8 flavours.

  1. Hi Chris. It is interesting to know how pure whey protein can help in muscle development especially in sports people. Do you think women in their fifties who are not sports people can benefit from the muscle building roles of Whey protein? Muscle loss increases with age, what advice will you give such women with respect to choosing a type of whey protein in order to prevent muscle loss.

    1. Hi Debbie and thank you for your comment and interesting question. Unfortunately, whey protein alone will not prevent muscle loss.

I am planning to write a post on Women’s whey protein as there are specific products of this type available. Some can be found at Bulk Powders WMN (See the ad banners featured on Fullfitnez.com of follow the links in the article).

From what I know, it is possible for women in their fifties to build or maintain muscle in the same way as any individual would, however this would not just happen from consuming a higher amount of protein.

Increased protein consumption will benefit any individual with a lack of it in their diet as this would help to balance their diet but without exercise, muscle mass wont be prevented from decreasing and won’t be increased at a significant level.

For any prevention of a decrease in muscle mass, any individual regardless of their age must exercise and eat a diet consisting of the appropriate macro nutrients; protein, carbohydrates and fats. Adults naturally loose muscle mass from the age of 30 starting at approximately 3-5% per decade.

To build muscle, a protein rich diet has to be maintained and importantly the appropriate amount of complex carbohydrates also have to be consumed. Carbohydrates provide the energy the body and muscles need to exercise and increase muscle mass by supplying increased amounts of glycogen to the muscles to help them to rebuild after exercise using the protein.

To find your bodies requirements you can use one of many free macro nutrient calculators found online and a calorie monitoring app such as My Fitness Pal, both of which will really help.

      I hope this helps.

  2. Thank you for this clear and concise information! I’ve been currently using Optimum Nutrition whey protein the past year and a half and while I enjoy the product it’s nice to see what else is available. I haven’t heard of Bulk Powders before, is it available in the U.S? I like the variety of their flavors as well. I’m usually the one who sticks to vanilla or chocolate, but its good to see the different offerings. Again, thanks for the great article 🙂

    1. Hello and thank you for your comment, I’m glad the information was helpful to you and you’re very welcome. I enjoyed writing it.

I agree it’s good to know if there are any alternative products or supplements to use that may be better of offer more value etc.

Bulk Powders do operate in the US! Click any of the links to take you to the site and select USA from the list of countries in the most top right drop-down menu and this will take you to the US Bulk Powders site.

I’m fairly non adventurous when it comes to flavours too but over time I have been trying different ones from Bulk Powders because the quality with each is always consistent and as good as the last.

      All the best to you.
